June 15, 2011
We've all experienced rising prices this year, at the gas pump, grocery store, and in our businesses. Zierick Manufacturing is not alone in this.
Our last across-the-board price increases were in November of 2005. Since then we have done our best to keep prices stable, especially during the economic downturn. But we have to face the reality of higher raw material and energy costs. In November, 2005, the COMEX hovered around $2.00/lb, this week it is just over $4.00/lb. Our cardboard packaging materials - from reels to cartons - have increased by 22-60%. Energy costs have risen, with many of our suppliers adding fuel or energy surcharges to their invoices.
Some of our products, once high running, stocked items, are now made to order. Price increases on small quantities of those will be significant. Other items, once specials, are now standard and some of their price breaks may not change. This is not an across-the-board increase of a set percentage, rather, prices have been recalculated based on raw materials and process factors.
We know that you, our customer, are facing the same cost increases throughout your own business and trust that you understand the reasons for our price increases.
New pricing will go into effect July 1, 2011.
Sincerely,
Sam Salituro
